Smart Excel’s Secondary 3 programmes aim to expand students’ knowledge and encourage them to pursue personal interests in each of the subjects. At this level, your child will be encouraged to think more deeply about the concepts, topics and texts presented to him or her in class. Being able to assess and solve complex problems whether in English, Mathematics or Science is part of honing their critical thinking skills, which will benefit them as they move into upper secondary and pre-tertiary education.


Content Mastery

  • Students will learn upper secondary topics such as Excretion and Homeostasis.

Skills and Techniques

  • Students will be taught strategies to remember and recall facts, understand and apply concepts, and analyze experiment-based questions.   
  • Students will learn how to manage essay questions and how to provide comprehensive and coherent answers.   
  • Students will also engage in hands-on experiments to acquire the dexterity required for laboratory techniques.


Content Mastery

  • Students will dive deeper into topics that build on their prior knowledge of lower secondary Chemistry concepts.

Skills and Techniques

  • Students will be guided on how to integrate existing knowledge from lower secondary with upper secondary topics in order to tackle questions.  
  • Students will also have ample practice with a variety of questions,
  • Students will receive feedback on their progress.
  • Students will conduct experiments such as titration and qualitative analysis to hone their experimental skills and laboratory techniques.


Content Mastery

  • Students learn new topics such as Kinematics, Pressure, Thermal Properties of Matter, General Wave Properties and Electromagnetic Spectrum.

Skills and Techniques

  • Students receive a formal introduction to experimental skills such as conducting experiments and recording observations.
  • Students then learn to analyze the results and form appropriate conclusions.
  • Students will focus on handling information and solving problems by locating, organising and presenting information, manipulate numerical and other data and present reasoned explanations for observations.

Preparatory Course for GCE NT, N & O Level

It provides a comprehensive programme that equips students with the necessary learning competencies that prepare them for the annual examination of the joint awarding authorities – Ministry of Education, Singapore and the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE NT, N & O Levels.
