SMART Preparatory Course for GCE ‘O’ Level provides a comprehensive programme that equips students with the necessary learning competencies that prepare them for the annual examination of the joint awarding authorities- Ministry of Education, Singapore and the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Levels.

The strong foundation of this programme lies on the series of internal assessments namely: Mid-Year and Preliminary Examinations, which are facilitated by the Department once in the Academic Year for the respective examination cycle. These assessments are carefully designed and prepared by the internal and competent assessors of the department, to gauge the readiness of the students for the actual examination.

The private candidates’ registration exercise GCE N(T)-, N(A)-, O and /or A-Level examination(s) will commence in April.
Completed Secondary 2 education (or equivalent) with Pass (at least C6 and above) in English and Mathematics, OR Passed SMART EXCEL entrance test
Any Singaporean male applicant who wants to defer from full-time national service must be enrolled as a full-time student. Such an application will need to be approved by the MOE first. Do take note that the approval of NS deferment is at the discretion of the Ministry of Defence.
Admission is subject to approval of the SMART EXCEL management.

Note: Students who do not meet the pre-requisite admission criteria must obtain approval from the school’s Principal prior to admission.
Students are assessed by means of oral and written tests and examinations during the course. Upon completion of the course, students will sit for the external GCE ‘O’ level test conducted by SEAB.
This programme is delivered by a team of dedicated and qualified teachers. The lessons are held in the classrooms. Students will also be given additional work to complete outside of scheduled classes
All students are expected to register for their GCE ‘O’ Level Examination online at www.seab.gov.sg.

IMPORTANT:
The full fee must be paid at least 5 days before the practical session to confirm your attendance as a lot of preparation is needed for practical coupled with very limited class size.
PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE ABSENT FOR A LAB SESSION, A PENALTY OF $50 MUST BE PAID TO POSTPONE THIS LAB TO ANOTHER SESSION, AND ONLY 1 POSTPONEMENT IS ALLOWED FOR EACH LAB, ELSE THE LAB IS CONSIDERED COMPLETED AND PAID FOR, AND NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. THE FEE FOR THE MISSED LAB CANNOT BE USED FOR ANOTHER LAB.
